We’re about to move into a new (to us) house next month, and it’s been vacant for almost a year. I’m wondering if it’s smart to get the ducts cleaned right away or if we can wait. Any advice from people who’ve done it before?

When we bought our place, it had been empty for about the same amount of time, and the first thing we did was schedule ductwork cleaning for homes. The team found layers of dust, bits of insulation, and even some spiderwebs inside. The air felt so much fresher afterward, and we didn’t have to worry about breathing in old allergens. It’s one of those things that’s much easier to do before you’ve unpacked and settled in.
The house was well-kept, but no one lived there for a while, so I assume some dust and maybe even pests could have gotten in.
