Choosing between Telegram and Signal – which one is really safer?

I’ve been using Telegram for years, but some of my friends keep pushing me to switch to Signal, claiming it’s safer. I honestly don’t want to juggle two apps, so I’d prefer to stick with just one. But security is a big deal for me. Has anyone compared them in detail and can share real insights, not just marketing claims?
