Lately I’ve been drinking almost every evening, but I still go to work, take care of my kids, and manage everything fine. Could this still be considered alcoholism?

This can certainly be the case. Just because everything looks good on the outside doesn't mean that alcohol doesn't affect you in the long run. There is a term for this - “functioning alcoholism”. I recommend reading https://genesishouse.net/blog/functioning-alcoholism/ - it really opened my eyes when I was in a similar situation. You don't have to hit rock bottom to get help.
